MCC by Wildtype

About Us

Since 2016, our small crew has worked to defend Earth's wild places by reducing our reliance on animals for products consumed by humans.

How is salmon sperm PDRN sourced today? You wouldn't put it on your face if you knew! So why not just use plant-based ingredients? For many products, it's a noble cause but efficacy is severely limited. For example, we love plant-derived exosomes, but inside them are molecular messages that only plant cells respond to.

We set out to do better. Over the past 8 years, we've developed a system to create genuine, verified salmon proteins, peptides, exosomes, PDRN, and more, grown from animal cells instead of animals. How?

We started by isolating a small number of cells from a juvenile salmon in 2018. These cells don't grow into a fish — they naturally divide into more cells. We've learned how to sustain these salmon cells outside the fish, with all the nutrients they're used to: proteins, fats, sugars, and trace minerals like iron and zinc. The best part is: all of these nutrients are sourced from non-animal sources.

Just like “starter cultures” for yeast, we've had no reason to go back to the fish when we need more cells. That's huge! Unlike conventional sources of cosmetic inputs like PDRN today, our production processes are animal-free, but still 100% genuine salmon PDRN.

Today, all MCC is produced in a repurposed brewery in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood. It is FDA-inspected, GMP-compliant, and the most traceable source of PDRN and other bioactives on the planet.

Respecting Earth's wild places and the animals within them is central to our mission. We are proud to be part of PETA's “Eat Without Experiments” program and have partnered with The Conservation Fund on critical projects to protect threatened ecosystems.
