About Us
Since 2016, we have worked to defend Earth's wild places by reducing our reliance on animals for products consumed by humans.
We started out by isolating a small number of cells from a juvenile salmon in 2018. Since then, we've learned how to sustain salmon cells outside the fish, with all the nutrients they're used to: proteins, fats, sugars, and trace minerals like iron and zinc. We source all of these nutrients from non-animal sources. Just like “starter cultures” for yeast, there's no need to go back to the fish when it's time to grow more cells. That's huge! Unlike conventional sources of cosmetic inputs like PDRN today, Wildtype's production processes are animal-free.
Respecting Earth's wild places and the animals within them is central to our mission. We are proud to be part of PETA's “Eat Without Experiments” program and have partnered with The Conservation Fund on critical projects to protect threatened ecosystems.
